Fractal Frontera
Welcome to Fractal Frontera, let’s go uncover the mysteries found in this land of limitless exploration.
In Ancient times, in an unknown region of what is now known as South America, there was once a land that was watched over by a mythical being that was half macaw, half jaguar. That being was known as the Guardian and they protected the beauty of the land, including the Heart of the Jacaranda, which is the core and soul of this land. One day a group of nomads stumbled across the land and asked the Guardian if they could stay, the Guardian said yes but under one condition: do not touch the sacred waters of the Heart of the Jacaranda, for that will throw off the balance of the land. The caves within the Heart of the Jacaranda became a sacred place for the nomads, where they worshiped the guardian and left behind cave drawings with stories to be retold. One day, a drought came over the nomads, and with no other choice the people turned to the water in the Heart of the Jacaranda for survival. This triggered an ancient curse that split the Guardian in two: the Macaw, the Guide and the Jaguar, the Protector. This split caused the entire land to freeze over, forever sealing the fate of all who lived there.
This now brings us to the present of our story. The year is 1963 and the Agency for Natural Phenomena and Anomalies, or ANPA, has been tipped off that there might be something strange going on in South America after a US military plane crashed due to heavy snowfall. They’re here to figure out what is going on and why all of this happened, but they’re going to need some help. Our guests are then called upon and recruited by ANPA to adventure through Fractal Frontera and help them uncover the mysteries of this land.
Project Highlights
My primary responsibilities for the land included working with a team of 7 for development of the overall story, overall land layout, roller coaster, food, beverage, merchandise, and analyzing ASTM F2291 and ADA standards.
Roller Coaster Ride Vehicle
I designed a custom ride vehicle in SolidWorks for the roller coaster, FrostBITE. The ride vehicle follows the story of the coaster as it is designed to look like Dr. Quiver's rocket powered snow mobile. The restraint is a hydraulic lap bar that is lowered from above. Based on the maximum ride acceleration, the lap bar follows a class 4 restraint by ASTM F2291-19. There is an individual lap bar for each patron that is unlatched by the operator. A transfer device can be used for accessibility.

Land Merchandise

Part of the prompt for the competition was to design merchandise for the land. I designed a coffee cup with the ANPA logo in SolidWorks.
Ride Safety Graphics
I took on the responsibility of analyzing ASTM F2219 and ADA standards for both attractions in the land. Based on the two standards, I created ride safety information graphics for both rides in Adobe Photoshop to be posted outside and throughout the ride's queue.
